Helpful Tools: CORE Process

One of the most practical tools I’ve used for developing self-awareness – and helping others do the same – is the CORE Process from GiANT Worldwide.

It’s useful for employees, managers, and teams alike. Whether you’re navigating a challenge or trying to break an unwanted tendency, the CORE Process helps you reflect and make a plan to change.

  1. Call It: Name the fact(s) of what’s going on. Be honest about the challenge or tendency you’re seeing.
  2. Own It: What’s your role in this, and what can you control and change?
  3. Respond: What do you need to do differently next time? What’s your practical plan to interrupt the pattern or apply the insight?
  4. Execute: Define success, set a timeline, and ask someone to hold you accountable.

Conservation as a Civic Virtue

Civic virtue never formed through slogans or online activism. It formed through responsibility, through showing up, by doing work others rely on.
